FROM MATTER TO INFINITY
Luciana Matalon’s artistic universe: between memory and the cosmos
18 June to 31 July 2026
Luciana Matalon Foundation
Throughout June and July, the Luciana Matalon Foundation is presenting an exhibition dedicated to its founder, Luciana Matalon (Asolo, 1934 – Milan, 2015), an artist who, over the course of more than fifty years of practice, developed an original body of work based on a dialogue between material, memory and the inner self.
Trained at the Brera Academy and subsequently in Lausanne and London, she made her debut in 1968 with a creative journey destined to evolve constantly, in which artistic experimentation and reflection intertwine to form a personal and recognisable artistic language.
The exhibition traces the evolution of her artistic practice: from her early experiments with materials, in dialogue with some of the most significant artistic movements of the late twentieth century, to a reflection increasingly focused on the great questions concerning the origin of existence. This gave rise to the cycles dedicated to the archaeology of memory and thought, and to cosmic visions – works in which the mark takes on the significance of an ancestral trace and the material becomes a place of memory and knowledge.
The exhibition presents Luciana Matalon’s artistic journey as a voyage from matter to the infinite: a tribute to the founder, whose work continues to this day to explore time, memory and the origins of the visible.
