Luciana Matalon. Cosmos and memory

09 Dec 2025 - 27 Feb 2026

Luciana Matalon. Cosmos e memory
from december 9, 2025 to february 27, 2026
Luciana Matalon Foundation

In December, the Luciana Matalon Foundation will present an exhibition dedicated to its founder, the artist Luciana Matalon (Asolo, 1934–Milan, 2015), who placed dialogue between matter, memory, and interiority at the heart of her work.

Having trained at the Brera Academy, she spent over fifty years developing her own distinctive visual language.

The exhibition brings together works from different phases of her career, including her early cosmic visions, such as Isola Stellare (1970), and the iconic Cattedrali Nello Spazio, as well as cycles dedicated to memory and inner archaeology and woodcuts created in Japan. Paintings, sculptures and works on paper reveal a richly suggestive universe, in which the sign takes on the value of an archaic trace and matter becomes visual narration.

From the outset, Matalon has explored the great themes of existence through images evoking inner landscapes, myths and primordial spaces. Her works, often located in the borderlands between the arts, combine experimentation and symbolism to create compositions that invite interpretation and reflection.

This exhibition provides a profound yet concise insight into the artist’s vision, emphasising the profound connection between his work and the foundation that bears his name, and reviving the evocative power of a body of work that remains strikingly relevant today.
