The Paul Hindemith Duo, comprising Gian Marco Solarolo on the oboe and Cristina Monti on the piano, was formed with the aim of promoting and raising the profile of chamber music repertoire for the oboe and English horn – instruments which, thanks to 20th-century composers, are enjoying a resurgence in popularity. The duo’s musical focus is primarily on the historical and contemporary 20th-century scene, though they do not overlook the most significant works from earlier periods. The duo have honed their skills under the guidance of distinguished masters such as Hans Elhorst, Pietro Borgonovo, Bruno Canino and Michael Holtzel during prestigious chamber music courses. Appearing as guests at MusicaPoesia for the first time, they present a varied and exciting programme ranging from German Lied to famous pieces from the Argentine tango repertoire.
