THE BEGINNINGS<\/strong><\/p>

Born in Asolo on December 21, 1934, Luciana Matalon moved to Milan at an early age, where she began her education at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts. Starting in 1962, Matalon began exhibiting her works in national and international exhibitions, quickly drawing the attention of critics. Her early works, influenced by Fontana and Burri, are characterized by rough canvases, wrapped in threads of fibers and resins that conceal red solar discs, ancestral symbols of energy and life. From these works emerges a sense of anguish regarding the smallness of man in the face of the cosmos, but also the desire to transcend the boundaries of matter. 1980\u20132000: ARCHEOLOGY OF THE MIND AND WRITING AS SYMBOL<\/b><\/p>\n

In the 1980s, Matalon created cycles such as Dagli scavi della memoria<\/em> (From the Excavations of Memory) and Archeologia della psiche<\/em> (Archaeology of the Mind), where writing became the protagonist, replacing filigree patterns with dense psychic scripts (intensely intertwined visual signs arranged to create a significant optical impact, similar to a symbolic code or alphabet). Her works evoke ancient writings, from Sumerian to Hebrew, transforming the canvas into both an intimate and universal diary. Among the monumental works she created later are The Sun Town<\/em> (Netanya, Israel, 2007) and Citt\u00e0 Sole<\/em> (Rozzano, 2013), symbolic structures where light and wind interact with bronze, creating pieces that evolve with the changing seasons. Central to her artistic language was the relentless pursuit of a cosmic and spiritual truth, symbolized by elements such as the staircase, the tree, and the clock\u2014emblems of elevation and awareness.<\/p>

Luciana Matalon passed away in 2015, leaving behind a profound and complex artistic legacy.
